2024 COMMUNITY ARTS PROGRAM

Emma pic.jpeg

Emma is a working artist and educator in Buffalo, NY.

Some of her public art projects include a mural entitled Hopeful Currents on Smith Street in Buffalo at the entrance to Red Jacket Riverfront Park.

One of her most recent projects involved creating a 15 foot-long Lake Sturgeon puppet and other large-scale "living sculptures" depicting animals of concern or special interest to raise awareness and wonder about the importance of local wildlife. The puppets were featured at a "Wonder on Parade" event at the Niagara Aquarium.

Emma also teaches ceramics for Locust Street Art and Arts for Learning and has her own pottery line, Black and Birdy. You can find more information about Emma's work on her website and on Instagram.

The Riverline is excited to launch its Community Arts Program for 2024!

This is an opportunity to join with the community in celebrating and lifting up the diverse cultures and history of The Riverline neighborhoods.

You can read more about The Riverline Community Arts Program and its history here.

The Riverline is pleased to announce that it has commissioned local artist Emma Brittain-Hardy to lead the program this year!

For The Riverline's 2024 Community Arts Program, Emma will be constructing lanterns using natural materials and weaving storytelling from community residents of all ages into the project. She will work with local youth from The Riverline community to create the lanterns and the program will culminate in a lantern-lighting celebration sometime in October 2024.

The Riverline is thrilled to work with Emma! Please stay tuned for details about the program, including the celebration event!
